The Super Dad Photo Contest was a social media photo caption contest completely designed by me, James Harris, for my previous employer. The objective of this contest was to increase Townspree’s Facebook Page following. Contestants were required to “Like” the Facebook page that I was managing in order to win a prize. When a contestant submitted a photo, they would generally ask ALL of their personal Facebook friends to cast a vote for their contest photo by completing the requirements of liking Townspree on Facebook. Whether participants were contestants or voters of the contestants, they were both required to like my company’s Facebook page in order to participate.
I personally designed and wrote the rules for the contest, picked the prizes, and digitally designed ALL of the advertisements and digital media promotions. These digital promotions included banners for email campaigns, website ad banners, and social media post images.
The campaign was a huge success for my company. The contest ran for just over 2 weeks (5/25/2012-6/12/2012) and it increased our company’s Facebook following from around 150 to over 700 followers. There were rules that specifically stated that the contestants had to be residents of the State of Florida. We required contestants to be Florida residents because that was the geographic/demographic of the audiences that we needed to target for future social media marketing campaigns.
